What happened
Jon
When our son Jon died by suicide, the ground gave way. Grief like that does not follow a schedule, and it does not accept easy answers.
On the day of his service, a rainbow settled over the meadow. It was not an explanation. It was a quiet reminder that we were not alone, and that God had not left the story unfinished.
Live Victoriously Ministries grew out of the long road that followed — learning to grieve honestly, to keep worshipping when it hurt, to lean on Scripture, prayer and real Christian community, and to let Christ heal what I could not heal myself.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18
The journey
What God taught me along the way
Healing did not arrive all at once. It came as a journey — through Scripture that met me where I was, prayers that were sometimes only tears, worship that carried me when I could not carry myself, and a community of believers who refused to let me walk alone.
Somewhere on that road I noticed the pattern God was using, and it became the framework I now share with others.
How HEAL emerged
Live Victoriously – HEAL
The four movements God used to bring me from grief toward healing — and the heart of the book and the keynote.
-
Harness Your Faith
“Trust God one faithful step at a time.”
Faith in grief is rarely a leap. It is the next small step, taken with God, when the whole road cannot be seen.
-
Evaluate Your Source
“Choose God's truth over fear or shame.”
Loss invites loud voices — guilt, fear, shame. Healing begins by asking where each one comes from, and choosing to listen to God's truth instead.
-
Accept Your Scars
“Allow Christ to redeem what He has healed.”
A scar is not an open wound. It is proof that healing happened, and that Christ can redeem even what we would never have chosen.
-
Love Your Story & Share It
“Let your redeemed story become someone else's hope.”
The story you would never have written becomes the very thing that helps someone else keep going.
Ministry
Why I speak and write today
Today Sheryl speaks at women's conferences, retreats, churches, grief ministries and community events, and writes to encourage anyone walking through loss. She shares her story not because it is finished, but because a redeemed story can become someone else's hope.
The story continues.
If Sheryl's story has met you somewhere in your own, here are a few next steps.
